Studied the art of Claire Wendling. Any advice would be much appreciated.

This is really great! I feel like you captured the essence of the project really well by placing emphasis on the line. It looks like you changed the shape of the head from the original maybe because you were using hole punched paper. Not a line critique but still something I noticed.
Grant Schowalter
They aren't perfect but I am happy with them. I struggled with perfectionism and ultimately that slowed me down a lot. Took me two weeks to find the time to complete these. It was a pleasure to get into the minds of two of my favorite artists though. Karl Koplinski and Kim Jung Gi (rip).

Nice work; it look absolutely amazing!

Awesome studies. I can tell you were really feeling these drawings.

Didin't really go for the line design on my first one. Felt more confident experimenting on the second. Still could have been bolder in places for sure.

My mindset wasn’t great. I get weird when drawing images I don’t like. And I tend to rush to just get a task done. Something I need to work on
Grant Schowalter
These don't look too rushed. I really like the way you focused on the rhythms. Something I forget to do a lot.

Nice work on the penguin's feet. You kept your confidence in the detailed area!

When I wasn't worried about what each line was looking like, it was a lot easier to get the proportions right, especially in the hand.
Grant Schowalter
You must have some hands experience they look great. Clean lines! Really good shape work on the penguin. Maybe you could take advice from Stan's demo with the vr gauntlet and focus on simplifying out the individual digits.
Grant Schowalter
Learned a lot from this one. I was really proud of how well the penguin came out but totally missed the point of the assignment. My strokes were confident but I was literally copying the lines rather than exploring and simplifying. And while that worked well for the penguin, the faults of this method really showed themselves in my hand sketch. I switched to a red pencil for my attempt at vr girl but still was too focused on nailing details and accuracy. I did a quick sketch of the hand during warmups that I actually think turned out much better and was done more in the spirit of this project. I included that here as well. For my post demo attempt I chose a reference of a Giraffe. I am really happy with how it turned out. I stayed loose and confident and it shows. But please let me know how I can continue to improve. :p
@torlad
I have tried the boots. The shoelaces were very hard. We weren't supposed to shade, but I couldn't stand having a white background with the white boots so I filled the background in.
Grant Schowalter
I really like how you simplified the shapes so much and managed to tackle the laces in an interesting way that reads clearly
Grant Schowalter
My first and second attempts. Before and after watching demo. I was surprised at how well the first ones turned out but really happy with the post demo ones. Although each could be more accurate I am really happy with how much more confident my lines have gotten. This is a new style of drawing and I am really liking it. Let me know how I can continue to improve!

Here is my pre-demo attempt. Feedback is welcome, thank you!

Very even toning! impressive. The only critique I can offer is that the lines for the highlights have a dark outline around them still that isn't necessary. The value change from light half tone to highlight is enough to show the shape outline
