I tried just to focus on the rythm and the camel picture was the hardest one for me

Your lines look incredibly fluid and smooth, fantastic job incorporating dark + bold and light lines.

I have tried the boots. The shoelaces were very hard. We weren't supposed to shade, but I couldn't stand having a white background with the white boots so I filled the background in.

I really like how you simplified the shapes so much and managed to tackle the laces in an interesting way that reads clearly

Attempted a portrait of the picture provided for the assignment before watching the demo video. I tried way too much to outline and draw & define each individual feature, instead of using how the light and shadows interacted. Attempted another portrait after watching the demo video using a different reference photo, and I was very happy with the improvement. Definitely proportion issues, but I tried a lot less to outline, and tried more to show the features using lights and shadows.

Attempted all the pears, felt spicy and attempted level 2. Self critiquing, a major struggle was keeping the flat dark from becoming too dark, making it hard to distinguish between the shadows and very dark shadows. Same thing between the highlights and the light half tones, I felt the highlights had too much of an "outline" most of the time, and I spent a lot of effort trying to keep that from happening. The face was incredibly hard. I used a 2h for the initial sketch + light half tones, hb for dark half tones, 2b for the flat dark, and I started off with a 4b for the darkest shadows on the first pear, but used a 6b for the rest of the drawings.
