added comment inDay 8 - Gesture - 12 Days of Proko
Gesture, rhythm, flow,...
It goes by many names
It's importance is actually stressed during very limited time durations
30secs to 1min
I noticed that I felt relaxed when I had more time like 3mins and 5mins

I studied Mike Mattesi's drawings and took up a few valuable lessons so I decided to practice them immediately.
>>Line weight and variation
>>Use of the most descriptive simple form
>>The way he labels his drawings with their time durations and circles them 😂

Asked for help
10 mins timer for each.
I had a lot of trouble with the one I'm pointing at (top left was 4th attempt). Not sure what's the main issue, I think the length/perspective of the palm facing up?? Did I overly shorten it?

Asked for help
Just starting out on the anatomy course so I'm not familiar with all the muscles - took around 30 mins to complete. I'm not sure what went wrong with the angle/proportion - should I have started with an outline or a gesture line first?
Overall, I noticed the whole gesture should be bent over further/lower. Might try the same image again.
Nice try @Alyssa .
>>Learn to recognize the biggest forms first ; In this case: head, rib cage/torso and pelvic region
>>Try to capture these forms in their simplest form/shape
>>Then study their angles with respect to each other
>>Then join the angles between them with a long connecting line: this is the rhythm/gesture line
>>In the case of figure drawing, think of balance(counter balance): balancing of these big forms (the legs and hands come in here most times)
>>Then look for the next big forms and start developing(lay-in /sketching/ measuring)them
The truth is...
It doesn't work out in the order above😮💨
It's more of iteration; repeated checking and cross-checking, using all of your head and hand,
Patience, practice upon practice
and Access to good materials (Good for you, you're already in the proko community😎)
Sorry for the long writing🥲
Hope this helps

Both in aesthetics and function, the human machine is indeed beautiful.
About 45mins for each.
About 35mins rather.
I really enjoyed the studies and I've come to enjoy doing studies than detailed finished works.
