Level 1 student tries - a lot of lost lines and fun the some relaxed pigs!

Are you sure you're a Level 1 student? In all seriousness, these are sensational. Keep up the great work. It's inspiring me almost as much as Proko himself.

With the first two images, I think I realised that I have a habit of making these bold, heavy, thick outlines which make the sketches look kinda cartoony and I wanted to try and knock that back a bit in the next drawing of the boot. Again I started out with a light gesture drawing of the main shape and the rhythems that I could see to help give me a structure which which I could build upon and add more detail.

Love the way you shared the step-by-steps. Made it really interesting seeing how you progressed

Starting when I got pregnant with my daughter, since October of 2021, I’ve dealt with pretty heavy depression. After I had her in July, my depression got a bit worse. That entire time I had no desire to draw or create any art. A few months ago the spark started to come back, and at the beginning of the year I challenged myself to spend a few minutes each day drawing. So since January I have drawn a little mini picture and taped it to my calendar (I’m following a prompt list from BardotBrush). Some days I draw more, some days that’s all I have the time for. The point is I do it and now it’s a habit. I love looking at my calendar and seeing my progress and it pushes me to keep the streak going! I just wanted to share what I’ve been doing and how it’s helped me some with my mental health journey. (I have spoken to my doctor about this btw. I work on making progress every day.)

Just saw your posted calendar from a while back. Awesome idea and it looks stunning when viewed as a collection like that. I hope your journey, both health and art-wise, are continuing to inspire and that February looks as good as January did.

Redid the pear drawing and was better able to have clearer value structure than my first attempt, but the shapes for the darker halftone feel too simple and I could have made a better design with my value shapes overall. This is a really helpful exercise and for my next time I want to convey the form how Stan subtly does with his lines in his pear

These are both excellent. As an absolute novice it is interesting to me that, at first glance, the one on the right looks more realistic and I wonder if that is because the shading is vertical, as opposed to horizontal on the left. Am I right with this do you think? If so, why might that be? Is it because the vertical shading implies that the light source is above? Well done.

I am starting to regret that I paid for this course. 6 lessons just about tools, seriously? Most of that material I can find on YouTube for free (and probably on your channel). WHY YOU ARE WAISTING almost an hour (56 minutes) just on tools??? why do we need a 20-minute video that explained how to sharpen our pencils???? Are you serious? VERY DISAPPOINTED :( Probably the last course that I paying on this platform!

Hi Albert, I recommend you read Nicolas Malloy's comment above. Hopefully, when you've done so you will understand why Proko has committed so much time to the basics.

I think Stan, Sir, will forgive me for using his video thumbnail as inspiration for some doodling around 😅

Good enough to be used in one of the videos I think. A companion for Skelly? I especially like the hair which gives Sir a kind of devilish look :)
