added comment inProject - Measure Proportions
I struggled so much with the pencil measuring method, so at the end I gave up (for now) and moved on to the eyeballing proportions instead. I think that was easier by drawing and erasing until it started to look right.

This is my level 1. I think I used to many shapes, and my shapes ended up not interesting and cool, but it was fun!

Two more attempts to sketch from imagination. I think it is getting better, but I am struggling to get the elephants proportions to look right.
You win for most adorable reference photos. And the drawings are adorable. The self portrait one is my favorite.

I found a beautiful drawing by Andrew Loomis, and in my mind I thought it was a good choice for a study, but clearly it was way to difficult for me at this level. So I really do need this course.

Old Shoe. My first version I did with a red pencil, but I think the pencil is to soft because it would not stay sharp. My second version with a HB pencil I think is better, but I still think my lines look messy

Hey, you've got a fun idea! Something you can try is to break down some of the goldfish images into simple shapes first. As you iterate, you can start playing around with the recurring shapes you notice, making them bigger, smaller, more exaggerated, adding chubby cheeks, changing the expression, etc. and get different results until you find something you really like and work off that for your imaginative drawing. As for the lines, I think they're pretty solid. You've got a nice, loose, confident sketching line. You could try balancing more straight lines to counterbalance all the curving lines, and that's another element you could play around with while you iterate different versions.

After several attempts that looked terrible, I watched the demo yesterday. Today I tried again without looking at the demo, and I think my sketch is slowly getting better.
