Hi Castra, I think your values are quiete right. If you might do another drawing you could make your pencil lines follow the surface of the pear. It can enhance the feeling of the direction of the surface. I hope this is usefull. Good luck.

My angles are slightly off, but all things considered I feel like this went well. I'd be happy to hear thoughts from others.
Hi Matt, To me you got the angles quiet right. What I do think, considering the exercise, is that your lightest value in de shadow can be a bit darker. I have the feeling that its value is competing with the values in the light. You might even darken the halftone a bit to make it stand out a little bit more. You can even, if you want to, darken the cast shadow in order to connect it to the shadowside of the pear. I hope this is helpfull.

Here are a bunch of studies of Peter Han’s work. I’d be curious to see his sketching work, since it feels so cast shadow dependent. By the last piece I was exploring holding the brush in a different way which I think got closer to the way his brush strokes were constructed. But I’m also wondering about the size of the original drawings, cause mine feel so much larger to be able to get the same detail. Maybe that’s just finesse with a smaller brush? Looking at the critique I feel like maybe in some pieces (eg the monkey paw) I spent too much focus on shape rather than line execution.
also face symmetry is hard!
Hi Psi, I can relate to that. When I did de masters studies I tried to find out the size of the work and I looked for the material (pen, pencil etc) that would have about the same width and value.

Okay, just got stuck on this one! In the spirit of moving on I just picked out a few of the sketches that I have done over the last couple of weeks I could stay doing this exercise over and over but I know there is so much more I need to get onto lol. Can anyone relate? The question is when to move on!? The more I draw the more I see I need to learn. Hope you’re have a great time out there drawing :)
Hi Ewan, I can relate to that. I usually stop when I get the feeling that I start to repeat my proces. Then I look at the work and try to find out what I want to improve.
