Chose to do a local scene for this challenge, and tried to push the character while staying faithful to the lighting. This is in Tayport Scotland

I'd love to work in visual development or concept design for games, tv or animation. I also do freelance illustration using the same portfolio, I wanted to show range but I'm worried its not focused enough to grab any job :/ Appreciate any and all feedback you can give. https://apricityfire.artstation.com/

Northern Lion is a constant companion, playing in the background while I draw, a comic lets player who recently had a child. Often referred to as "egg" due to his shiny dome, it made sense to use that in a literal transformation. The changes in emotional state when having and raising a child are immense, I wanted to capture the fear and beauty of the transition in a comic manner that matched his style. Would love any feedback and thanks as always for the challenge and opportunity.

Hi Marco, how do you personally balance study and creating original work, do you feel one takes priority and how has that changed throughout your career? If your doing a master study, do you study multiple artists simultaneously or focus for weeks or months on an individual before moving on? Looking forward to the stream and thank you for all your guidance. Kind regards, Andrew

How do you decide on an image to create, is it spontaneous process or more forced? Do you have any tips for generating ideas and committing to an image? Your work and tutorials really inspire me and have given me the impetus to create on many occasions, thank you so much.
Marco Bucci
Thanks, Andrew! Most of my personal images are spontaneous, and I try not to force anything. "Spontaneous" doesn't mean I set out with a singular idea and follow it all the way through, though. What I try and do is react spontaneously to whatever it is I'm creating. Does this picture want to go a certain way that I didn't see coming? If so, I'll take it there. Sometimes even the subject matter changes as I work! Though, I usually do have a somewhat-formed idea of what the subject matter is. For example, a girl jumping on the bed with her monster friend. In that case - OK, that's great - but then what's the best composition for that? There's a thousand ways to draw a girl jumping on the bed with her monster friend! That's where I'll chase the wind a bit, cropping, re-cropping, moving things around, until I see how these elements in the picture are communicating. I typically spend the most time on composition, as I firmly believe that's the hardest part of art, and also the area most people are lacking in, and where most pictures will fail. With composition, the traditional way is to do thumbnails. Those are great, but these days I actually find myself more and more just working out the problems on the actual canvas itself. I'm not worried to make drastic changes as I work, and in that way I basically thumbnail and paint the image at the same time. That's what I do for my personal work, anyway. Client work needs to be more structured due to the approvals process. Good luck!

Hi everyone, some really breath-taking work here, always inspiring to see the extent of interpretation on a theme. I only had a few days to dedicate to this and probably still pushed it too far in that time :L I depicted me and my two girls, me trying to use my passion to lift them up into something better, I wanted a light-hearted, cartoony and generally optimistic image (which is entirely out of my comfort zone :L) Thanks for the opportunity and any feedback is appreciated(:
Rebecca Galardo
I love the feeling here.

Okay ... I just have to say that you took me by surprise with the "light-hearted, cartoony and generally optimistic image" comment, because at first glance, I thought I was looking at two giggling girls holding a severed head. I was sure it was illustrating some psychedelic dark comedy. Which ... intrigued me. I went back and looked again after reading your text. My mistake, but ... you definitely caught my attention. ;-)

When finding the right pose for your subject, do you have any questions you ask or other techniques that help capture the personality? Thanks, love your work ❤️
