Hi everyone, I’ve always been confused how the sculptor gets rid of the stand from the body once the work is finished? Or it would be cast directly somehow?
Andrew Joseph Keith
Yes the stand or support coming out of the sculpture is usually kept in place throughout the sculpting and molding process and then once the mold is made it can be filled in with silicone on the mold so that it is removed from the final cast.

Hi, this is my submission. I don’t have enough time to finish the whole body, so here is what I’ve done: the torso (hopefully), her left arm and left leg. I took this chance to have a self-study of human anatomy and it was really fun. Think I’ll finish the work in a few days. Any comments are welcome. Good luck everybody!

Btw, I used my fingers, a toothpick and a little toy bow ;D

I can't say this was my worst project, but it was early on in the learning process. Unfortunately, I wasn't smart enough to photograph my first piece (which was worst than this...big head, wrong proportions, no anatomy) And, This was back when we were still processing film, so I was a cheap skate ;) I will say that there is something very humbling about photo documenting...Just when you think it looks good-take a picture (it sucks after that). Nonetheless, this was not one I was very fond of and is good candidate for pointing out errors.

Yes I also have a hard time presenting the work the right way in the photo. They seem to be much more out of shape than the work really is lol

And also here are two following ones. The male one is the most recent one and hasn’t been finished yet. (Seems like I can’t change the sequence of the pictures on phone) Any advices are more than welcome!

Awesome thanks for submitting! Keep it up!

Hello this is my very first one. I think it is a bit too rough to provide any typical mistakes..
Andrew Joseph Keith

I had it looking a bit better at one point but couldn't get it back lol, well, gotta start somewhere :) I used my hands and a little metal knob, knob wasnt working too well so it ended up being almost only hands.

This looks pretty cute with the featured curve. Love it!

Hi Andrew! I’ve purchased the course and really can’t wait. You recommended non-drying modelling clay but i’m not sure if super sculpey counts?
Andrew Joseph Keith
Yeah that works fine. It’s a little more expensive than an oil based modeling clay but the nice thing is you can bake it to save your projects.
