So I decided to get some more practice drawing on a tablet through design software. I want to get a feel for drawing this way. Feel free to give your thoughts. Thanks! #Coreldraw #XPPenDecoProXLW

These are lovely portraits and I really dig all the different expressions here. And theres so many! If you want to take these to the next level, if might be a good idea to take a step back to understand values. You want to keep it simple to start. Just restricting things to 5 values is a good way to start. 2 values for the shadow, 2 values for the midtones and then 1 lightest value for the hightlight. Keep the shapes as simple as you can and think about the biggest shapes first. You dont need to worry about details until later. Thinking about the planes of the form will help. Planes facing away from the light source shouldnt be brighter than the planes facing the light. Considering all these things will add more sophistication to your artworks and create more convincing illusions. I included an apple demo to show a simpler version of the same project. It’s the same concept, just simplified down even further.

2nd attempt at the portrait via Coreldraw. I did a speed drawing as well but I can't upload it.

Great improvement from your first attempt! I wanted to share this value study tool with you: https://www.proko.com/values. It's a great way to flatten the image and find the value shapes. You can get a similar effect by squinting your eyes. When you do so, the areas in shadow appear to be around the same value in places at the hair. I would simplify by dividing the face in half by light and dark values, so the majority of the light values are on the left side and the majority of the right side is made up of dark values.

It has been 3 or so years since I have drawn anything. I want to start taking it serious so I hope these class help. I was hoping I could upload the 9MB clip studio paint time lapse .mp4 file so I could get for potential feedback if during my process I was doing anything wrong but unfortunately this platform doesn't support it. I look forward to posting more.

You did a phenomenal job in my opinion. I also use Clip studio paint and I wanted to upload a timelapse as well but I couldn't. I mainly used the pencil tool and that was about it but I would love to learn how to draw digitally like this. I'm going to watch some tutorials on CSP, then comeback to revisit this course and redraw my images.

I need to spend more time mastering the basics. This is my first attempt at the portrait.

Well this is my first attempt at drawing the pear. I know I need to work on shaping. But I am planning to redo it. I also did a speed drawing of it and converted it to a gif file, I have to figure out how to attach it. It's saying the file is too large

I got the Drawing Basics course, along with a new gaming pc, and I have an XP-pen 2nd generation drawing tablet on the way, currently drawing with the Wacom Intuous pro tablet. I just started drawing some different stuff, trying to get a feel for drawing on a tablet. I have the following software: Coreldraw 2024, Clip Studio Paint, Davinci Resolve, Wondershare Filmora, and Blender. I am currently on trial period with the following: TVPaint, Moho, and Cartoon Animator 5. I am excited about this journey.
