You'll be amazed at how much your traditional work will help your digital... and vice versa. I spent a long time doing only digital work because my eyesight is so bad but I missed traditional so much I've gone back to it but I have to make some accommodations. I'm "older" and my hands aren't steady - so I can't do pretty linework anymore. I don't see detail very well - so my paintings are more" painterly." Point is, as much as I love digital, there's no replacing putting pencil/pen/brush to paper!
@sancherz
That's true! I've decided to use paper and pencil more often, especially with drawing warms. It feels like they can be the best way to improve line confidence and muscle memory, plus it can always transfer to a digital medium too. I've been much more conscious about whether im drawing with my hand, arm or elbow thanks to this course!

Here are my animals, and the extra references i used apart from the original. I tried to make the rooster look more serious and the buffalo and hippo goofy.

I drew two of the projects digitally and kept the penguin drawn traditionally to train my line quality on the paper. I am happy with the penguin the most, it was fun creating the large strokes making up the body. Watching the critique i realized the importance of the assignment was to sketch with energy, do you think one or all of my projects convey energy well enough? Which one should I address? Thanks!
@sancherz
I used clip studio paint as the medium for this project. The snail was fun and so was making the shape of the boots but the shoelaces were very tricky. So much I tried it once more to see if I could take a different approach
@sancherz
I normally draw digitally but I think I will do most projects traditionally, although I am not too comfortable with the pencil yet haha. I think my main weakness is creating lighter values, and the facial structure.

This looks pretty good, except the shadow on the side of the pear, and the shadow on the ground plane should be the same value. If you squint down with your eyes, you will see that all the shadows will merge together.
@sancherz
Ok, do you mean the very edge of the pear where it would be the darkest? or the whole side shadow of the pear and the shadow on the ground? I am reviewing proko's demo of the pear, and he identifies edges within the shadow that are darker, but I am having trouble identifying them myself
