Using the shadow and light method, I try to identify the lightest and darkest parts of the shape.

In my first drawing of the penguin, it looked kind of messy (I was impatient). So, I decided to be more mindful of the line angles and use tapered strokes, rotating the paper if needed. As a result, the hand and robot girl drawings look much cleaner and more energetic.

This is my skull drawing. A bit scare of the bone, but feel happy that I gave a try

Omg, I almost gave up on the boot image because it was hard to decide which lines to keep. I’d love to hear your feedback!

I tried using a picture of my own, so I took a picture of a tangerine with a light focusing on the top left. I am not happy with the end result, but I am unsure on where to improve. My biggest issue was with different colors and different values, between the tangerine and the leafs. I ended up using the same values for adjacent parts with different colors and it confuses me.

I have the same issue as you

These are my second and third drawings after the demo. It took a long time to adjust the proportions, but it was definitely worth it for the result. What a great way to practice patience!

This is my pear drawing after watching the Dem. I find myself struggling with value, hope to receive some feedback. Thanks a lot

You have a great range of values here, and they all make sense the way you've applied them. I think the more applicable constructive criticism I could give would be regarding your shapes. Try to avoid tangents when you can -- they're areas where two objects, could be lines or shapes, come close to touching or just barely touch. They create tension and can distract the viewer if used unintentionally. Another very minor thing that you could do to reinforce the plane change is to bring that half tone up so it "curves" around the bottom of the pear on the right. These are both very small fixes. I think you have a great drawing here. Is there something specific with your values that you struggled with during this drawing?
