My favorite perspective masters are Antonello de Messina, Raphael, John Howe, James Gerney, and Marshall Vandruff. The big picture goal is to be able to draw interesting backgrounds containing arches with pillars that are found in Italian Architecture, along with floors that contain squares or tile shapes from imagination from different angles without a reference.

Ive been beating trying to beat this into my head for about a year now and can't find the confidence to move forward. I look at others posts here and feel inferior. When do you know you are ready to move on?

Hi I agree don’t get stuck on one subject or lesson. Most of all please don’t feel intimidated or inferior we are all at different stages in our development of each concept and lesson. You cant compare yourself to others or you will not improve because you will start to feel whats the point. The main point is to take as much from each lesson, do the practices, and move to the next lesson. Like Ace said you can always go back and review previous lessons if you want. Hope this doesn’t sound like a lecture I just want you to do your best. I am new to this course and by no means an expert but want to help if I can, so move on and no worries.

Asked for help
Hiii here are my first gesture drawings from across a 1 week period in order of when I did them. This is my first time taking art lessons of any kind and I’ve developed way too many bad drawing habits over the years, so I apologise for the bad line quality and all the itchy scratchies! Tripod hold still feels a little weird and sometimes I automatically draw over a line until it is at the angle I want so I’m practicing just leaving the lines as they are. Any tips or critiques would b hugely appreciated!

Hi I am also new to taking lessons, but I can see a vast improvement in your gesture drawings from beginning to end. I see more confidence in your gestures with more pressure in your strokes and a more accurate way you are following the gesture line. Thank you for sharing your art!
