added comment inDemo - Depth and Form Line Weight
Chose these high heels to draw, definitely struggled with making my light lines light enough and how much lighter to make the front shoe vs the back shoe.

Did a study of Walter Crane, using his illustration for the cover of his book "Line and Form". Focused on just one part of the drawing - the lower part of model as she steps up a few stairs. I attempted the entire drawing but found it to be a bit too advanced for me at this time.

Feeling a lot better about putting down lines, tried to keep the drawings super simple and not get too focused on the details.

second attempt at snail + boots, definitely a lot faster (especially on the boots - 1.5hr this time vs 5hr the time before). Laces still took almost an hour but the initial sketches went a lot faster. Proportions don't feel quite as accurate for the boots as before, but it went a lot smoother and felt less lost this time on where to place lines, which was really helpful when troubleshooting the laces. Treating each lace as its own just shape made of lines helped tremendously.

These are both pre-demo.
The snail was relatively quick for me, but the boots took a few attempts over a couple of sessions. I did the left boot first and it took me 2-3x longer than the right boot, the laces were super challenging and took a lot of problem solving.
I landed on doing an outline of the boot first for spacing purposes and then adding in the interior, saving the laces for the very last addition. This helped a lot with spacing but def still struggled with the varying width of the laces.
I did the left boot with a 2b pencil and the right with a 4b pencil, I found it easier to leave lighter lines with the 4B though they were a bit harder to erase, the general softness of the pencil made the sketching overall easier as I was less likely to scratch the paper. Generally felt more confident using the 4B pencil as well because I could really see the lines I was putting down.

My attempt after watching the demo, used a Tombow 4B + HB pencil but thinking of getting additional 2B and 6B after watching the demo.
