Drawing Lines From Multiple Directions/Angles/OrientationsBeginner. When practicing my fundamental lines/shapes, is practicing drawing from different directions, angles and orientations important or would this confuse the building of muscle memory? Building muscle memory is the objective. Ex. Practicing circles going clockwise, counter-clockwise. Practicing lines from lower-left to upper-right, bottom-to-top, top-to-bottom.
Brand new to drawing. I’m having trouble just letting go of my drawing inhibitions. Get nervous about drawing to next exercise and go back to fundamental shapes for a few days.

1st attempt of cybergirl turned out not to horrible. Not sure why, probably because it’s a less organic figure—more straight lines.

First off, shoutout to the editor(s). So funny sometimes.
I see I over thought this exercise. I went in thinking we couldn't box things in and make a plan. I thought the little construction marks I did make were cheating but I just made it way harder on myself xP. My second go at these will hopefully be way easier. I will however need to actually draw the shoe laces. I simplified mine wayyyy to much

Thanks. Great post. I’m gonna tried that out. 🙂

Yikes 😬 that was difficult for me. It was a big jump in difficulty for me from the only using straight lines lesson. I got the snail but I don’t have confidence in my line drawing so it came out scratchy. 😕 I started the boot but was getting too frustrated so had to stop for a while. I need more practice drawing curved lines so gonna practice that for a while.
if it helps, your skill level is exactly where it should be for a beginner :) you're doing the necessary work to improve – view improvement as a byproduct not the goal.. the goal should be to sit down and practice~
although gesture drawing is a challenge in its own right, it is an incredible way to practice curved lines and other skills simultaneously, just a suggestion. i look forward to seeing your development!
After reading your post I was inspired to write this thread here on Proko. You might find it helpful. https://www.proko.com/community/topics/the-mindset-that-will-help-you-get-better-at-line-control

Beginner. Been watching youtube vids, pretty low quality content. 🤢 . Made the jump and bought Proko high quality content 🥳
Pre-Proko had been practicing basic shapes and shading for weeks. For this Proko lesson I found an image of a candle I wanted to try and draw.
