Here's some geometric stuff for the assignment. Drawing circles and ovals with one stroke is hard with cintiq. The surface is so slippery compared to paper. I guess it just takes a while to get used to.

Hi @goodasnew, great job! The structure and perspective are solid! Some tips: - To make an animal more drawable and easier to invent, it helps to be even bolder with the simplifications. Maybe you have a single large form for each part; a pyramid for the head, a ball for the shoulders, a cylinder for the belly and a box for the hip. Fewer forms are easier to handle than many. - It can help to leave out gaps between the forms. When drawing the mannequin for the human figure for example, I struggled a lot with the shoulders, because I tried to connect everything. Later I found that it was easier leave the joints out in the mannequin stage, then go straight to anatomy (shoulder girdle and deltoids.). I got the idea from seeing a thumbnail for a course on New Masters Academy, where the instructor seemed to had drawn mannequins out of boxes and without the joints. It was much easier to invent than the ones I had attempted before it. Hope this helps :) Keep up the good work!

Structure Assignment – had a lot of fun doing this :D (note: I used references by „line of action“ for the animal exercise) I definitely need to study animal anatomy since with humans it’s much easier to find the structure when I know what’s underneath.

You have super clean line work. Do you use normal tablet or screen tablet? I have 27" cintiq and it's super slippery. Takes a while to get used to I guess.

Here's my bean assignment. I drew these along with Stan's example video, but first pausing before he began to draw. I drew multiple versions of each, where i tried to exaggerate more or less and in a little bit different poses. After that I watched how he draws it and tried a couple in similar way. My lines are often messy. It's a habit I try to get rid off.

Hello. Here's yesterday's sketches, first assignment for this course. I didn't put any time limit to these, but the session took about 4 hours, and there's 62 figures, which makes around 3.9 minutes each. So they range probably from 2 to 6 mins. My own opinion is that a lot of them are a bit messy and scratchy. Pretty much all them has too much detail for this exercise. Many of them have weird proportions, it's not a problem at this stage, but every time I fail with proportions and what not, I start to hesitate and them fix them with more messy lines to make the figure read at all. I think I managed to get some decent gestures in some of them even though I struggled a lot. Thanks.

I think all of these are absolutely wonderful. As far as the line quality is concerned the more of these that you do the better you’ll get at describing a contour with one single line rather than a whole bunch. If you want to Improve faster I would suggest doing the entire set over again but this time try to describe each contour with one single line. Every time you put down your pencil on the page have a plan for where you want the line to go and how you want to look like before you do it. Then execute it once. this is a great way to get out of the comfort zone of trying multiple lines consistently just to try and get the proportions correct. The idea is to bring some intentionality to everything you do on the page.

Hey ! I think your opinion is correct, main thing is the quality of the line, i'ts a really common thing with students ( wich I am too obviously so take these advices with a grain of salt :) ) You should focus on using less lines, because yeah, on some of them, I can see " the right line " but it's sometimes clouded by others close to it. For example the upper arm and lower arm included can be described with 4 or even 2 lines sometimes. "Pretty much all them has too much detail for this exercise" I don't fully agree with " pretty much all " but yeah, sometimes you're thinking too much about drawing the muscle and every form, wich can damage the gesture. Also, try to take some male reference maybe ? I understand that female references tend to have more "pleasing " and flowy poses, but a bit of diversity can help :) Ps : Picture number 5 , left page and top right, I think you really nailed this one, well done ! Pss: You inspired me to take a look at my old gesture drawings, I can apply the same advices I just gave you actually :D You inspired me to get back to gesture ! Anyway, I hope it helps !

Looking great. Just a little tip, try doing more clean lines.
@goodasnew
Hello, here's my assignments. I did use a lot of reference, but still some muscles were hard to see how they should go.
