This is my first attempt at levels 1 and 2 before looking at the demos. This is the one i've felt the least confident with. I struggled with some to visualise the shapes and get them right, focused too much on the proportions, and felt some of my old habits coming through. I also didn't feel I got creative enough with level 2, and that I was focusing too much on them looking good instead of having fun. I will definitely be trying these again after watching both demos.

Very nice !
@dukal
I don't do a lot of portrait but I would like to have some feedback to improve. Thanks

Nice! You correctly identified that there are two light sources. It's common for movie lighting to be more complex than how you would typically light a still life in a studio. It's difficult with more complex lighting, but you can still organize your values by plane shifts. Try to simplify as much as possible when you're dividing the lights and the darks. One you've define that separation, then you can go in and add 3, 4, and 5 values.

Very cool! Your lines are so clean!
@shadesea
this is what I did for the depth line weight. It took way too much time, but I had no practice with backgrounds for ages. I like how it turned out but I need a comment on how I did and how it turned out.

Very cool ! Great job !
@dukal
I feel like the two are too similar.
Melanie Scearce
I see what you mean. You could try thickening the line weight of the shadow areas in the light and shadow drawing to increase the contrast.
Maren
It feels like I missed something on the Shadows and Light method, it seems off to me.

Honestly, I think they both look great !
@dukal
I did not draw the rhino yet but I decided to practice my line Weight on one of my drawings. I saw someone with a bag of Invader Zim and it gave me the idea of drawing it. I inspired myself from the picture but made up the other arm and the laser.

This is dope. The line work looks great. I might add more boldness to his trigger finger and thumb to separate from the gun a tiny bit more.

Hey everyone, what's the etiquette with uploading reference pics from eg Google images? Unrelated but attached pic is what I drew for my wife's birthday card. She's the dead looking squirrel with our youngest girl astride her :D
