added comment inDemo - Simplify Snail and Boots to CSI
Well, I took a break for a while, but I’m back at it now. Honestly, I’m kind of worried my second attempt looks worse than my first? But I can’t dwell on that. I’ll try to boots tomorrow.

This is my snail! I really struggled with making confident strokes. Either my lines were wobbly and unconfident but kind of accurate or they were kind of clean and confident but wildly inaccurate. I hope it turned out okay anyways.

Alright, here’s the before and after watching this demo! I’m much happier with the second version than the first.

Just finished the second rendition of the pear! I think this time around I did better with the shading as well as the overall shapes and dimensions! definitely a long way to go though. please let me know what I could improve on :)

First steps with the drawing basics course. Tried the pear before watching demo and critiques, then tried to improve after watching. Tried to get more consistent values, use more range of values, get rid of outlines, and generally internalize some of the key lessons. Hopefully they're steps in the right direction.
You definitely improved your values in the second attempt, going for stronger shadows to make the image look more dynamic!
I would say that the shadow side is still too small though, it doesn’t take up as much space as in the picture. And the light side is too light, it doesn’t leave enough room for the highlights to be visible.
That’s just my thoughts, though. I’m hardly an expert.

This is my attempt. I wasn’t sure if I counted as a beginner or intermediate artist, so I tried both levels. What do you all think? Would love some constructive feedback!
The date is when I started, so you’ll notice it took me a few days to finish. Mostly because of the portrait, I think I finished the pear on the first day.
Sounds like you put in a lot of effort, so well done, there. I'm of the opinion that you can't go wrong trying harder things, so I'd keep up doing both versions. The more effort you put in the more you'll continue to improve. What I see as the main issue is proportion. Focus on measuring relative distances and sizes to try to get it as accurate as possible before going in for the shading.
