Loved this episode. I've been so focused lately on "what do I have to do today to get better" that I forget to have fun while I'm doing it. Also great to see how Bryce is able to repurpose objects that he researched outside of the context that he originally learned them in. So good!

Great video. It was very useful to see how he limits his colour palette for the sake of cohesion. Was also great to see the huge difference in going from the flat colours to adding a bit of lighting. Looking forward to more from Bryce Kho and other artists as well!

I struggled with the level two photos a bit. I think I was running out of steam / patience by the time I got to those ones. If I were to do this again I think I'd do it digitally. It seems like that would allow me to iterate through ideas more quickly.

My attempt for the first photo reference. After a while I started to lose a sense of how much contrast the image had and wasn't sure if I it was too contrasty or not enough. Same with the overall brightness. After viewing it on multiple devices, like my phone and computer monitor I got even more confused! I also think I overworked it and started looking at small details too much. Any feedback is appreciated.
I'm looking forward to painting the other three references.

Jon's critiques are so incredibly concise and well explained. I learned so much from this video.

This was my favourite assignment of the course so far. I think I messed up a lot of the proportions and values but I'm still happy with how most of them turned out. I love the way my sheet of thumbnails looks as a whole. It's very inspiring to see how these great compositions can be boiled down to these tiny thumbnails and 3 values. This was a very valuable exercise for me.

I had to take a picture from an angle to avoid the reflection of the light. The darkest block on the left is super reflective. I used a 4B and 2B pencil.

This was a lot of fun. The first two pages without numbers were from imagination. The rest are from reference. After torso number (9) I watched the critique video. From 10 to 18 I tried to exaggerate the gestures.
