Hi friends! My name is Candice and I am pursuing freelance illustration as well as developing my own brand of content through my Etsy store. I love the vibes on Proko and just entered the My Movie Poster Proko Challenge. I want to participate here as a way to keep my drawing/sketching fundamentals in shape.

I love these! Especially the first one. The tilted camera angle gives it a lot of drama.
Hello everyone, here’s my entry to this month's Proko challenge. The movie’s name is CHICKEN-REX Hunters, it’s a story about surviving in a dangerous world that was destroyed by giant genetically modified chickens (and other foods, but no spoilers here). A guy needs to venture with his faithful dog, Nilo, in search of medicine for his people, the only problem, the ingredients exist only in deep Chicken-Rex infested territory, luckily he finds an experienced Chicken-Rex Hunter, Renata, and maybe with her guidance he can help his people.
Ok, I honestly hope you are not being preyed upon by chickens irl. Superb visual hierarchy. I feel like a a chicken leg claw would be a delightful addition, but alas a more minimal approach could be optimal. :D
My brain started buzzing as soon as I read the challenge prompt and I couldn't resist!
I little bit of my background:
I moved to Iowa all the way from California a few years ago for a "day job" at a stained glass studio. I know, it's an awesome day job! I recently was able to switch to part-time so that I could balance freelancing and life more feasibly. To speak more on my experience of Iowa: it is completely magical and full of romance and adventure! ;)
Movie premise:
In a a world where steam technology reigns supreme, the increasingly industrialized world is starting to strain the Earth's natural resources. Stained glass has become a fashionable construction material and the mining of rare metals used to produce the most vibrant shades has gauged deep quarries. In a battle to save what is left of nature, one young woman sets out to manufacture glass with alchemic magic. Strict regulations and fierce hoarding of resources makes alternative glass manufacturing a dangerous--even deadly--enterprise. What will happen when the burgeoning alchemist faces a world hell-bent on excavation?
Fun facts about stained glass:
- stained glass windows are still crafted with real lead (toxic)
- red glass is legit made with actual gold (it is way more expensive than other glass colors)
- Alchemy played a role in modern glass manufacturing (sans transmutation circles)
I am at a good finishing point, but I think I would like to continue finessing later down the line. I look forward to your feedback!
hello and nice to meet you!
totally beautiful! I really love the way you put the glass design in the background, it's beautiful! very impressed with this, so beautiful! ooh also, I'm really glad that you can manage the work time so you can balance it out, I hope everything goes well for you in the long run and hope for your success!💜🌻
Great job! Love everything about it, colors, composition, value structure, they are all spot on.
This looks amazing! Fantastic idea, fantastic title and fantastic poster <3
Also, write that steampunk novel :D I wanna know more about the world and the story!
It looks gorgeous! I would never have had the idea to combine light red and light green, but it is a stunning combination and fits the theme fantastic. Wonderful!
Candice, I love the worldbuilding in your story! Also, the poster looks pretty great too!
