I chose Eliza Ivanova. I really like their style and hope one day to emulate it a bit. I got better as I kept attempting a new piece.

Had a go with traditional medium. Might give it another attempt since the opacity when printed felt a bit too dark so it confused me a bit. Still learning a lot though.

2nd go! Pictures are a bit blurry, but I think I'm slowly letting go of the perfectionist mindset.

Attempted the level 2 photos this time. Aside from Proportional errors and trying to wrestle my brain when simplifying I think I did ok. The camel was a bit of fun, where I tried to use more curves for the main body. The Skull was a bit tricky in the sense that I was figuring out which parts I need to put in simplified, and which parts I need to leave out entirely. Overall a fun experience, most likely will attempt again after viewing the demo.

Starting again. Did two takes on the pear, with the 2nd attempt being after viewing the demonstration.
nice!!! your shade seems way more realistic and it kinda makes a huge impact in the overall drawing to me..I'm also learning so not sure how useful my opinions can be..haha , but the improvement is there!! :)

Had a go. Definitely need to practice refraining from thinking about details, and just loosen it up a lot more. I think that is the #1 thing that is holding me back atm.
Did a lot more practice afterwards with some animals, hands, and feet. (Forgot to save the reference images of the hands 'n feet).
I had a lot more fun when I felt a bit loose on it all, and just looking at the bigger shapes and forgoing the details. It made it that much more approachable to put pencil to paper.
Gonna do more practice, then head to the next section!
(Love that cat photo :))

In addition to the boots and snail, I did further practice on some animals. (Picture quality could be better)
Observations include that I just need more mileage in my lines; I need to practice my lines a fair bit more.
In regards to the boots, I feel that because the laces gave me a lot of mental strain, I should learn to simplify the laces much more to get them in a more interesting and accurate angle on my page.
That being said, I feel like I learnt a lot from this! I will keep practicing.

There are some parts where the line could be more clear and defined as to which type of line/curve it's meant to be, and keeping an eye on this also helps with simplification as you commit to a more sweeping line. For example with the swan's bottom edge, I'm unsure whether it's meant to be a straight line that got a bit wobbly or if you wanted to simplify it into an S curve, but committing beforehand and even ghosting the line can help. It can also help to look for a variety of line types to provide clarity. Like with the mouse's apple, the apple shape seems to losing its form, but if you break it up with the bottom area as defined curves, the corner as a straight line, then the rest as a sweeping curve, it can provide more clarity. I think you did a great job with the cat, it has really great simplification and commitment, so you're definitely on the right track :)

Went ahead with the first project! I made a sketch for one before viewing the demonstration, then one afterwards. Afterwards I feel is fairly improved, particularly in the proportions, but I noticed some things I can do better.
When I was shading, I feel I should be more committal and loose with it. I used HB, 4B & 7B for this exercise, but I felt a bit stiff while shading. Secondly, I confused myself a fair bit when choosing where to place my shadow tones and my light tones, something I should be aware for in the future to simplify the process.
Otherwise I'm relatively happy and ready to continue, though feedback is always appreciated :).
