Aye! So here is my entry for this month’s challenge :) (Content warning: a lot of mentions of death) As you can tell I took quite the different approach to this one, that has a few reasons which ill explain in a second. First of all, I don’t really see myself as the main character, that’s just not my role. For me its much rather about the themes, thoughts and views I can show to others, nearly completely separated from me as a person. Further more I wanted to create not only a good poster, but also a good potential movie that I would buy tickets for and be exited to watch! Thusfore I also planned out a rough story Idea:   The plot is about an ancient deity of death named Atlas and an old blood hound that goes by Foster. Atlas himself is not the cause of death, but rather the one that guides the dying and the dead into the afterlife. However, he has lived for countless of decades and has seen how gruesome humanity can be. He has grown quite the dislike for people and therefore tends to stick with animals. One day he meets Foster though, he lived on the streets for quite some time now and looked accordingly, however Atlas decides to grant him a second chance and they both stray though cities, villages and nature. What surprises him is that this dog, that by the looks of it, humanity has never treated with respect or love, has so much kindness left for even those people. And over time he has to question his views on humanity.   This might be a bit disconnected from the prompt when you hear it at first, but let me explain. Both Atlas and Foster represent parts of my personality and viewpoints. Death has always played a huge role in my life but over time I began to see a strange beauty in it. I’m pretty young still (im 17) but I had my fair share of losses, each one making me appreciate life more and more. Nowadays I am a hobby taxidermist, so now its literally part of my life to make death appear beautiful. I find joy in giving these passed animals a second eternal life. In a sense they become immortal. And that’s exactly the background to Atlas. Death deities in this world are creatures that showed compassion and acted on altruism, but dies way before their time and were given a second life to guide those dying. Forster on the other hand is just as big of a part of me. I love this world. Every last bit of it, the good and the bad. Hearing people stories, sharing a part of their lives is what makes me happy. People are amazing and I think that’s not appreciated nearly enough!   Thanks for reading all of this and I hope I could share a part of my life this time around :D

hello and nice to meet you! I love the explanation you put into your story, so a lot of them really makes sense! before getting into the poster, I want to apologize for your major loss but I'm glad it sparked some positivity even if it's just a little bit, sometimes there's a positive message behind the negatives, and in which will be good in balanced way! now for the art, totally love the details you put in this but never get the eyes hurt~ sometimes too many details just really makes the eyes hurt so much, and I really love how you get the colors done in this, it's so amazing! the balance of the saturated ones and not, really amazing! great job! 💜🌻

Aye! So I've been thinking about this challenge for the past couple hours now and I think I know what I want to go for, however I don't know whether or not I'm straying a bit to far away from the prompt. The two characters on the poster are Atlas, a deity of death, and Foster, an old blood hound. The basic idea for the message would be: the beauty in both life and death from the perspective of an apathic eternal being and a old pupper with all the unconditional love in the world. For background, I'm a hobby taxidermist, so making dead things pretty again and giving them a new purpose is quite literally my life. The Idea this movie and in extend the poster should convey is what I want to tell the world with not only my Taxidermy or this project, but also my art overall. But I myself am neither included in the poster, nor "movie", so does it technically still count for the prompt?

First of all you have a very interesting job. Secondly, I love the creature design and the composition of this pice. The creature just looks so cool and I love the light and shadow on it. The warm colours used to compose them are really nice. To be honest I also didn't want to really include myself on the life story poster. I was looking up some of the greatest movie posters of all time for research for this competition and many of those posters don't contain faces or people but can even be a simple icon. I'm hoping the people judging the competition will judge according to that kind of criteria because images and icons like that can say more about a movie and a life than a portrait sometimes. But to be honest I think the true answer for this is going to have to come from one of the official people running this competition.

Hi Amira, love this concept! I don't know the answer to your question about it being on point of the prompt. I'm personally using my LARP character as the main star vs me, because that character is still "me" - just in my younger inner child way. Perhaps with the title and the main character there, this is an aspect that you not only feel represents you but is an aspect of you and who you are. Make sense?

Hi Amira! It’s a tricky question. It does say that you should play the lead role, but on the other hand the prompt also says that you can make a poster that best represents your personality, and that at least it seems like you have done! If you want to incorporate yourself more, maybe you could think of Atlas and Foster as representing two main parts of your personality, as artistic manifestations or your soul or something like that. In some movies there are a kind of an omnipresent speaker that narrates the movie, perhaps that can be you? You could be a very present narrator in a movie that is kind of a metaphor of your life and how you see it. Remember that as we also have to chose a genre for the movie, (It can be a fantasy or horror movie or anything), I don’t think the ‘you’ in the lead role have to look exactly like you do in real life, I think that means that you can make yourself into a fantasy creature, a zombie or anything you want that suits the genre you have chosen. It is a very intresting consept you have, and from what you wrote of yourself it seems to represent who you are and how you see life very well! I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Sounds really awesome, but I think you are meant to be the lead actor so maybe you need to find some way to incorporate yourself into the story.
