As shown and described in the video, add images to the color chart (provided in the downloads section on this page) of the full range of colors and saturation - then do color palette studies as shown in the demonstration for at least 20 of the image references. These will be yours forever. It's a very useful assignment for exposing yourself to new color palettes!

If you cannot open the PSD file, simply make your own chart (it doesn't have to be fancy, it just needs a color spectrum/rainbow and saturation).

Back after watching the week 4 critiques. I think this exercise was mostly successful in experiment with different colour palettes and applying them in different contexts. Main things to work on were: * Getting the values right, since they are foundational for colours - and also for the painting to read well * Hue shifting in dark/light, particularly for the more complex palettes. I think I got too caught up in staying accurate to the palette instead of following my eye and applying the previous lessons Did some paint overs on pieces I felt could most do with some improvement

Quite a fun assignment. I didn't really like it at first because I wasn't sure what I was doing, but I think I started to get a better feel for colours towards the end. Definitely an exercise I'll be practicing on an ongoing basis.

This was a really fun exercise! I truly am applying what I've learned and I do feel as though it's complimenting my style while also teaching me to improve. Now I ready for more!!!

Really fun assignment. Decided to learn how to use gradient maps with 15-20 and found out I don't really like using gradient maps Some advice I have is paint what you want to paint. Unlike previous lessons, you're not told what to draw or what colors to use so make art you personally enjoy. Also, don't be afraid to step outside of your palette to make the painting better. I didn't like the brown in #8 so I made it dark red... the desaturated yellow in #2 was meh so I made it look like gold instead... #10 didn't have any dark values so I added some based on what I had... #18 was (mostly) monochromatic but I added another hue for the hair. Find what works for you.

Completed the first of 20. Really like how this turned out. I'll post the rest in batches when I get them done (to avoid spamming the entire assignment page). Thanks for any critiques by the way, they're very helpful. Also, for the process. I did pretty much exactly what Ahmed did in the video. The only change I made was adding a higher value because I felt the piece needed it badly. Goodluck everybody!
