Here's an easy method for developing your own color range preferences by studying color in the real world and in art.
I’ve begun collecting my own references, but I’m struggling to find one with a light, saturated violet/blue image. Thinking about color in this way is fascinating, particularly when positioning them on the value spectrum and evaluating the overall saturation of the image.
Here are some of the color studies. It's interesting how sometimes you nail the color perfectly, while other times you adjust and tweak it but still don't quite get it right.
