Here's my assignment. Think that my ablity to capture likeness has improved. Though there's still a lot I need to work on.

Cool paintings! - When having a reference with a clear directional light, you might want to use it to your advantage by starting with a lay-in, that indicates the boarder of light and shadow. This can help you with the values; following the rule of thumb "the darkest light should be lighter than the lightest dark". Keeping light and shadow separated. Hope this helps :)

Had a lot of difficulty with the assignment. I tried to stay around the 30 minute mark, but this proved relaly challenging. Perhaps I should have allowed myself more time to properly internalise the values and colours. Though this is what I have for now. I also did some quick 5-10 minute speedpaints for 2 of the references provided.

Had fun with this assignment. Think my understanding of values has improved a good bit. My understanding of the brush economy has also imrproved a lot from this assignment.

Hi @Tony Vu, cool paintings! I haven't taken Ahmed's course, but I thought of something that helped me when I practiced value studies: It might help to start with only 2 values, then add extra values from there. I struggled with my 5 value studies. What I realized was that I struggled already at 3 values. So I decided to pracitce 3 value studies first, until I had good control over them. That really helped. Going from 3 to 5 values was pretty easy, I just split two of the groups I already had to end at 5 values total. Dorian Iten has a great video on value studies. How to Organize Values. You can get it for free in the Proko Course Sampler. Hope this helps :)

Quite a fun assignment. I didn't really like it at first because I wasn't sure what I was doing, but I think I started to get a better feel for colours towards the end. Definitely an exercise I'll be practicing on an ongoing basis.

Here's my assignment. My understanding of the human face has improved a lot from these studies. Definitely something I'm going to practice moving forward.

Been busy with school, but I've still been practcing skulls whenever I get the time. I definitely feel like I've become a lot better at skulls. There are still plenty of areas where I can improve, but I think I'll move on now.

I found this assignment immensely difficult. Seems like something I'll have to constantly practice. For now I plan on moving on to the next section.

Here's my assignment. It's amazing how much you can pick up from painting something repeatedly.

Here's the standard assignment, along with the bonus forms. I intend to go back and attempt the hard mode and legendary mode at a later date. I'm going to move on for now.

This is my best attempt at the base assignment. I also did a page of cones and wedges as a bit of extra work. I intend to go back and complete the bonus assignment at a later date.

This is my attempt at the bonus assignment. It was pretty fun overall and I feel that I learned a lot from it.
