Painting in the studio is great, but stepping out and taking inspiration from nature has its advantages! Learn about plein air painting in this week’s podcast episode.

Great episode guys. I love the idea of the painting quick sketches of the sunset in thumbnails. I will try this from my garden and work up to going out to paint :)

Hi Stan & Marshall, at the end of this episode you mention galleries and the art market. I'd really appreciate an episode on this, perhaps with a guest speaker who works in this area. Actually, I think this info is also missing in your 'recreating art school from home' series. So far you've mostly focused on the career perspectives of concept artists, game designers, etc... but what if you want to be a fine artist (and not specifically a realistic one, I'd rather create something in between realism and abstraction). Then you have to know that market, don't you? How do you research new contemporary art trends? How do you know if there is a market for what you want to do? You often talk about going to conventions, but fine art is a whole other world, should you go to places like La Biennale di Venezia or does your gallery owner do that for you? How do you choose a gallery? Thank you in advance!

Great episode!!! Seems like something fun to do, I'd love to try it, but right now with the pandemic I'm very wary of going out hahahahaha. I gotta try it when things settle down a bit!

I would find it super helpful if you guy did a podcast on storytelling. Making art can be very technical when you start out learning the fundamentals. I find myself having trouble moving on from the stiff technical qualities of art onto designing and using art to tell a story. I'd love to hear the best way to start off and maybe some resources to learn from. Thanks.

I am in the horrific situation of having done so much digital commercial work that I haven't sat down with pens and actual paper or canvas and paints in years - I feel that I have definitely lost some skills in traditional illustration, I feel that not having Cmd-Z or hotkeys on my artboard renders me almost completely useless. The thought of going outside and producing quality work is as foreign to me now as it would be to a non-artist wishing they could draw. I would love to see a discussion on this specific issue.
