Asked for help
Hello everyone. This is the first gesture drawings. I would like to request for feedback and critiques please. Thanks.

I noticed that you are focusing on contour too much on contour. In the last image, you even constructed the contours of the arm instead of the gesture that conects the forms.

I noticed that your shadows are too light. I recommend you to add more contrast, so you'll have a larger range of value to the halftones. Also, you need to know the secondary shapes of the object. Some parts in the palm of the hand are round. You have to show that roundness with halftones. In fact, you need to know how to shade the three simple forms; spheres, cylinders and boxes.

Thanks for the feedback. l guess should go through the shading process of simple forms again before i jump back into complex drawings.

I realized I never drew a detailed figure before, thus my last stage always looks like a traced contour. For line drawing, where do we put lines? I mean lines don't really exist, its all just shadows. So I find it hard to know when and where to put lines without looking stiff. Is there a general mindset?
Tristan Ortega
Lines are a grafical representation of value. So you usually use them to delimitate the contours and block in the shadows of the object.
