I think u skipped the normal bean...
@mrincongruous
Actually, I spent a whole week doing only the bean, though, as you can see, the results are far from impressive :P https://www.proko.com/community/topics/bean-am-i-doing-this-correctly Still, I guess the only way to improve is to keep going at it. Thanks for taking the time to comment and give your feedback ^_^

Hi toast64, First of all, I really like the vibe of your drawings and how you made these portrait studies with one consistent style on one page. Great Practice! Regarding you question, there are only a couple of things for you to consider for your next portraits: I've done a quick paintover, just compare them to your drawings so you better get what I mean: - I think you should darken the shadow side of the forms more, so their plasticity is more visible. You've already shaded it a little bit with a dark terminator line, but I think it could use a little bit of a darker tone (as seen in the paintover). - I think it would be better for you to use a paper with less texture than you used for the studies. The texture is not helping you make clean lines and it also becomes harder for you to render the shadows smoothly without the paper texture being too distracting. - Some proportions within the faces were a little off. Just compare them to my paintover. Keep a close eye on the proportional relationship between eyes to nosetip, nosetip to chin and distance between eyes. Good luck in your further studies! Joël

i can clearly see the improvements you have done in your paintover, and i will do my best to finetune them. i agree with the texture of the paper as well, but unfortunately i just bought this new sketchbook. ill remember to check the grain on the next one. i really appreatiate the time and effort. Thank u!
@toast64
I mean, it seems like ur doing the right thing, just keep going. althoug I would try to push the values a bit further/darker in the nosetrils, iris and between the lips. Good work!

Good call. I had not really intended to shade this to the point that I did but got carried away with no real destination. It shows, ha ha. Thanks for the feedback.
@toast64
i would suggest practising more loomis heads without bothering with the features. If you do 10-20 loomis heads in a session, and get confertable doing so, it will help you place the features more accuratly on the face. other than that, great work
