This was fun!
@spottcilgrim
Did a second attempt with the project. Since this was my second one (and I saw some other people doing digital), I thought I'd have fun and do an ink wash for the actual shading instead of graphite. I still am going too tall with my proportions--though this one was not nearly as badly tall as my first one :)
@mariabygrove
Aw, brilliant idea with the ink wash, all the values are clearly delineated.

Good morning! This is my drawing after watching your demo. :)
@spottcilgrim
Really nice job defining your hard edges and having 5 distinct values :)
@pizzle
My first two attempts of the pear. The photo with the stem to the right is my first attempt, while the stem to the left is after watching Stan's demo. I see some issues with the proportions of the shadows, but other than that, if anyone has any insights as to what I can improve, I welcome the feedback. Thanks, and keep on drawing!
@spottcilgrim
I really like your hard edges in the second photo.
@katrinadurham
My first time I have every drawn something with purpose, I appreciate I have a long way to go. Would love feedback from anyone

Great job! Finishing stuff is always an accomplishment. Your shadow shapes on the darker part of the 1st picture are well defined and dynamic. The lighter values though look like they could use more variation. On the first one the planes of the darker values are small enough to give a good level of detail, so making the planes of the lighter values have a similar size and level of detail will help even out the drawing. Your line edges are confidently placed, so great job! Line confidence is something I am struggling with :)
@roanav
Ok I did it. My first drawing of a pear. It is completely crooked and I am not sure how I feel about it. Smudges all over the place. But I did it.
@spottcilgrim
Great job. Finishing something is always an accomplishment. Without looking at the reference, the audience won't notice if its crooked (as long as its not too much), and yours is definitely not /too/ crooked :) And softer graphites will smudge more, so be aware of that as you go for darker values :) Great job, again!
@spottcilgrim
I learned a lot from this practice. Line confidence is something I am struggling with (on the right side of the pear, the lines don't intersect at all whoops >.>). After seeing the demo, I had planes that were too big--smaller planes means more detail means more accurate. I need to learn to switch tools more often (HB -> 2B -> 4B) instead of trying to force one tool to do all the work (I only used 2B for this). And my observation got stretched a lot longer than the reference. I lean towards drawing things longer than they should be, so I can try to intentionally go squatter to compensate, I think. Any other feedback that I missed would be greatly appreciated :)
