I love art! I have a bachelors degree in art but much of my education did not cover all the basics; I am here to learn them. Ready, set and go!🏃🏽‍♀️

Any recommendations for texts on animating inanimate objects?

This was a good practice! I typically avoid drawing hands but I really appreciate completing this practice as it has shown me I still have much to learn.

Reworked after taking some of @Martha Muniz suggestions. Also reworked some of the fingers on both hands as they looked a little wonky . Of course still happy to get any critiques/suggestions :)

My eyes goes to the highest point of contrast which for me is the left eye then the sword. I would say write down what you want to communicate with this image then place it in black and white to get an idea of whether you are conveying that message by contrast and thus movement (viewers eye). Maybe play a bit with scale and emphasis? For some reason I am thinking of Tekken and Mortal Combat when I look at this image. If there is light coming through the hat I think that could be emphasized more with contrast, perhaps look at the drawings of Marcos Mateu Mestre. Great drawing and love the texture!

@silentmoonss Eyes are tricky especially at this angle. Maybe look up the Loomis method it looks like you have a good grasp at it from the eye drawings on the paper. Perhaps, it is a matter of shading? That always gets me as well the dichotomy of lights and darks can be tricky. Maybe think of the eye as just a sphere and block in the light and darks then put in the detail last.

I did a semi contour and two sketches in procreate. I played around a bit in procreate with some of the settings.

Visual style part I. The first one I just screenshot your image. The other two, I looked for images on the internet that had a good amount of difference between light and dark.

What I love so much about this class is the mix of media that you have used - my heart sank when you did your first digital example because I don't really do digital, but the pencil sketches and watercolour stuff is brilliant. Having made that comment, you have inspired me to go back to my Wacom tablet and have another go and the results have been pretty good actually, so I have moved forwards in so many ways and will definitely go back to some more of your videos as you explain things really clearly. But first I'm going to do some studies and probably go back through this whole class again just to make sure I haven't missed anything because it was great. I attach my copy of your digital painting which turned out so much better than I expected. Thanks Marco...
