Hi guys, this lesson was really useful as an introduction for doing full body shading for a figure. Here's my first successful attempt at doing it. What do you guys think?
@patrisco
Hey guys, back here with some more drawings. This time I focused capturing the movement of my 2 minute studies, rather than getting the proportions fully correct? How do you think they've turned out? Would really like to hear some feedback.
Michael Brinker
Your line work makes them feel very rushed and muddled. You are getting the shape and motion but I think you might be rushing to get as much detail as you can. The purpose of the gesture is to simplify the form to its basic movements. Try and take a deep breath before you start and not think about the time limit. Just think of what is necessary for the pose to make sense. I hope you find this helpful.

Hey guys, here are some of my 2 min gesture drawings. I feel like some of them are slightly stiff, any advice to make them feel a bit more fluid?
Robert Adams
Hi Patrisco, I'm afraid I'm not much help since I'm new to this, however I will say that the poses do seem stiff. They seem just a bit angular. It looks like the parts are put on in sections (each arm or leg...). This approach seems to make the pose look less fluid? Try just the lines for each "part" first, rather then making a three dimensional limb. Maybe see if you can find a simple line that runs from the hand to a foot... a line that sweeps through the body. I hope that helps. Having said all that I will admit that your drawings look quite a bit better than mine😒. (It's obviously easier to see, than to do...)

I'm just a student here but these resemble mannequinization more than gesture to my untrained eyes.
