My attempt at this I felt was good , except for the robot . I was too tight with it.

First attempt at skull and camel.

Looking for suggestions to improve. Those shoelaces on the boots were so hard! I kind of gave up on making them look like the photo.

I tried to differentiate the shades more and keep the lines more angular. Same drawing, but just worked on it a bit more. I *think* it looks better now. Do you think the light half tone is too light? Or the dark half tone is too dark? I'm still not sure about it.

It's painful just looking at this, let alone posting it. Hopefully, I will improve from here. I can see the proportions are pretty off on the nose and mouth, and the jaw is not the right shape either. I think I can fix that by stepping back as I work. The bigger problem for me is the shading. I think I have trouble picking and sticking with 5 distinct tones.

I think simplifying the shape of the pear was okay, but simplifying the values was difficult for me. I had more trouble with simplifying the light areas than the dark ones. I also wonder if I am simplifying enough. I'm going to watch the demo video and try again.
