very nice drawings :) but I think you got caught up in drawing each details and makes the figures look stiff, I think if your studying gesture you should focus on the overall flow of the pose, try to use more simple shapes. hope that helps :)

Nice! I do one movie frame study a week myself, it is really great practice. I would say that the bush behind her left shoulder is a little too sharp at the moment but its easy to miss things in timed studies like this, I do it myself all the time. I aim for 2-4 hours, sometime it comes easy other times I get stuck in overtime, usually on likeness - though depending on what in particular you are trying to study i.e. overall value composition, details like that are unnecessary anyway. Here's my last one;
wow that's a very nice painting you really nailed the likeness, but yeah, looking back I really miss a lot of things but at the same time I'm trying not to get stuck on those little details, but I think you're right those sharp bushes is a little bit distracting since it's much closer to her face, it's fighting for attention. thanks for pointing that out :)
hey guys!, just wanna share this frame study I did from a movie called "memoir of a geisha" try to limit myself in working with time constraint but got caught up in spending to much time on the face, really learn a lot in this study in terms of composition, I really recommend trying it. let me know what you guys think about it :)
I think Luigi covered pretty much what I wanted to say, but for future reference, to get better feedback and better engagement I think you should give more context to your painting - character in this case.
If you ask generic questions you'll get generic feedback. Like tell us more about the project, what is it about, does she have a personality? Is she an android or something? Cause like you mentioned your theme is cyberpunk.
So we're left with a lot of questions ourselves which makes it difficult to give a helpful critique. Nice design by the way :)

Liking the character concept! I get Anita Battleangel vibes and dig that motif and storyline.

Hi @kyrie escala, love this character breakdown! In terms of how you can improve her personality more, I'd say that you should use the first page as an opportunity to express her personality, even when trying to show off the bits of her design.
Here is a post by one of my favorite artists, Even Amundsen

Notice that even when he's doing iterative design work for a client like Ubisoft, he has a base pose for the character that shows off his personality. Additionally, the facial expression of your character is critical, even in these turnarounds. For most of these images, she currently has a pretty flat/expressionless face. You have a lot of opportunities to push that expression.
I've attached more images of another one of my favorite artists, Wesley Burt. He uses the concept phase to explore personality as well, and it comes through in his drawings with different poses and facial expressions for his different iterations. Even in his more serious characters, you can see that something as subtle as a different head tilt can add variety to a facial expression.
One thing that I think helps is to find facial expressions of people in action. If I can, I prefer to stay off of Pinterest and instead either pick a character from a TV show/Movie and watch the subtleties of how they talk/move, or you can pick an interview of an actress to reference from. I think watching people in action gives you a better sense of their personality, rather than looking at their expressions when they pose for a camera. Hope this helps!
wow thanks!, this helps a lot, yeah now that i see it, I think most of my characters fall short when it comes to facial expressions, I really need to work on that. gotta admit though I'm guilty in spending too much time in pinterest looking for reference, maybe that's why my character lacks expression because most of the reference i found is pretty girls with blank expressions. I really like your idea on studying characters from movie/tv shows.
thank you so much for your time! definitely gonna follow those artist you mentioned thanks for your help!
Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this personal project I've been working on, and here's my initial design for the main character she's kinda inspired by Japanese, cyberpunk theme. looking for feedback in terms of design to improve her personality more.
thanks!
