this is by Oleg Yurkov She has such a imagination. This stuck out to me becasue the mermaid was kinda attitude I love it ! I suck at faces, but keep trying ill get better.

Nice attempt. The darker tail has some thick lines that help sell its shapes and values. I suggest adding those dark lines into your study, it will make the tail pop out more.

not bad , not amazing. I started drawing from immagination, so looking at pics is actually kinda harder for me. I get too picky on the details. and from my mind I dont see and details i guess.

My banana, 2nd drawing after watching the demo.

These are my drawings for the "Learning to Sketch from Observation" project, and here's what I found challenging and what I've learned: 1. It was a bit tricky sketching provided references because they're already sketches. 2. Still can't fully relax and make those lines loose. I'm thinking of experimenting with different tools and hopefully finding something that soothes my heavy hand. xD 3. I had to fight the urge to get too caught up in details. Still. :D What I learned: 1. Using reference photographs I didn't like helped me improve even more. 2. Setting a time limit helped me be a little bit looser and not overconcentrate on details. I would set a ten-minute timer on the days when I had energy and twenty to thirty when I was a bit tired. 3. Need to remember to draw the big shapes and forms first and then add some details if there's time left. Now just need to keep all this in mind. 🌞

very nice ! I have to stop myself from getting too detailed as well.
@evan585
Here are mine, i think i was being too hesitant/not moving freely and confidently enough for this exercise

I caint tell looking at it. I think they look confident. especially robo girl. she was my last drawing i think we just warmed up with the first 2 , maybe .

omg am I the only one having proportion problems? like feet too big for penguin, and the arms too big for hand , the robo hand not big enough. Im going through the videos in order I hope we get a proportioning vid soon.

You're not alone. I am struggling with the same issue.
juanita
OK, well this didnt go as well as I thought it would. I think its the dimensions that I struggled with. I usually doodle and stuff this is much much harder. Keep trying I know.

same here you are not the only 1. omg it deff looks easier than it is.

first on my own ( left ) then watch this vid and my second drawing ( right ) obviously more range and understanding of the shapes. I can already see me learning to catch more details. Thank you

After demo and critique videos: I feel like the videos really helped. Not sure if it is noticable, but I feel a lot more confident about capturing the gesture! It really helps to attempt this first and find out the challenges before watching the demos. So many "ah-a " moments and realizations as I compared Stans drawing process to my own. I was eager to try again and now I am just stunned. Immediate improvement just two drawings in. I will keep drawing these seals as one of my warm-up exercises. I just feel so much improvement going from one drawing to the next. A lot of practice needed, but I can feel it working!
