Yo! My advice for you is increase your value range a little bit on womans and show the highlights, a little bit of blush, some red/pink on cheekbones... That's the juicy part of doing portraits. :) Hope you find this useful.

What I think you should do is: Search for a reference of a scene that describes what you are aiming for, define the light source and increase the range of your values.
