Hi Marshall, I didn't connect the Draftsmen podcast and this course... until a few minutes into watching this video (I know this voice!!!). Thank you for recording and sharing this flexible framework for structuring career- & goal-mapping. Tangential to the course itself - I listened to the "I did It/Mama Is Here" scene from Cotton Patch Gospel after watching this second video. It moved me to tears.

This was a fun one! Amazing the characters you can tease out by playing with blobs. Still a tough exercise for me. Sometimes I feel my contour lines are a bit arbitrary, and they can be shaky and messy. And they can get flat sometimes when I don’t accelerate the curve at the edges properly. Guess I need to practice more! At least this is both a fun exercise and one that lets me design characters without too much anatomy knowledge.

I love the movement and tension you can feel in these! And amazing expressions, given the simplicity of the faces and eyes. So fun!

this was a great exercise aim forcing myself to look at the contour only… my instinct (see first image) is to shade… but I realized I often use that as a crutch!! I watched the demo for Snail and Boot and realized I had shaded… so tried hard to stick only to lines in the Advanced image contours. Capturing the camel’s proportions correctly given the steep perspective was so difficult!!! Surprisingly WAY harder than the captain skeleton. I’d love feedback especially on the camel … how can I do more to emphasize /explain the perspective ? thank you!
