Asked for help
So, I've been working on newsprint, I like to work large. Newsprint doesn't scan or photograph well so I've had to clean these up with photoshop. I've been free-handing these lines and forms, I totally understand the concept of the horizon line and vanishing points but I'm trying to see them without a ruler. Not sure if that is a lazy way of thinking or if it'll hurt me in the end.

I find myself getting too blend crazy at the end, I can't seem to stop myself. One of the things I'm really struggling with is the thickness of the paint, I feel like I'm applying it too thick. It still looks too graphic to me, but overall I'm happy with the result.

It's interesting to see how grey colors hold a painting together, I used to pick really saturated colors but I'm finding that a lot of colors are desaturated. I'm also noticing that the most saturation seems to be closer to the core shadows.

I don't know if I'm on the right track. Could someone please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong?
I think you're on the right track, but maybe try softening the edges of the value changes, it'll help make it look smoother. And soften the edges around your shadows. The contact point between the ball and table should be really dark. Hope this helps!
This is great!
Can the assignments be done traditionally as well? I'm working on painting in gouache and watercolor. While I do work digitally, I'm really trying to advance my traditional painting skills.
