For this assignment I chose to draw robins. I am happy with the flow of the legs and wings. It was fun ! Open for critiques :)

If it’s fun, you’re doing it right! I love these!

Here are my attempts before watching the tutorial. I feel like the VR girl is good enough even though the lines are quite messy. I found the ring light the most difficult ! (I guess I have to do a bunch of exercices on that). The hand is ok but i started wrong : without measuring and blocking beforehand. And for the penguin, the shape of the body is "fluid" which i like but the head... the head ! Too hard oO

I first try with level 1 assignment. The boots were challenging (the laces !!! oO). I find the boot on the right more simplified than the one on the left. I guess I went too much into the details in the one on the left and forgot about simplification.

I tried the level 2. I find it harder to identify the correct light values compared to the shadow values.
Great job with the blocks of shading. You've also managed to keep your edges simple. Like you mentioned, I would make sure that you halftones are lighter than your shadow family. In a lot of other videos, Stan mentions "Your darkest lights are lighter than your lightest shadows". It may help for you to start with two tones -> what is in light and what is in shadow, and then in each family try to find the darker and lighter areas.

I have tried the pear and a custom mushroom. It find this exercice difficult yet very interesting. It's like learning to see the world differently. I find it hard to find the correct values and to know where this value should start and end.
Both the mushroom and the pear look great. There are clear values and sharp edges. Good choises with the values, too, picking dark enough lighter values so that highlight can really pop (I struggle with this somewhat). Well done!
