Hi, This is my barbarian project! I started with the big guy (middle one), after a few sketches, I really like the final design. But I started to struggle when I had to make the other characters fit in the same world... At the end of the day I actually quite like the final trio, but if you have any advice to keep a certain "vibe" throughout any drawing I would be very thankful! Thanks! and don't be shy to critique!

Hi, I did a few observation sketches at first, then I did some more but I tried to exaggerated certain part of the seal... It worked well for some and not very well for some others, but it was fun! Afterwards, I drew some from imagination and tried to had some personality and some clothing element. I know it wasn't in the assignment, but I had a few laughs doing it (it was worth it). Thanks!

Awesome and very inspiring!

Hi, I am not sure about this one... I used a design that I did from the Learning To Sketch From Imagination Demo course. I had a few issues controlling the line weight with a digital medium. If you guys have some advice on this topic I would be very grateful. I was using a chalk brush, I don't think its the best for a line quality and density of the line, but I don't want to blame or rely on a brush. Thanks in advance! I am very open to criticism, so don't be shy!

Hey, @Cédric Legault, this character looks like a lot of fun! Regarding line weight, I’d say you did a pretty good job! The drawing, overall, looks nicely executed to me, and I like how you worked the various line weights across the different parts of the character - pushing the thicknesses of the lines on the eyeballs, the joints and the limbs standing closer to the viewer, while leaving textures and parts that stand farther away with thinner and lighter lines. About controlling the lines while working digitally - if you think the issue is that you would like to achieve a smoother result, then yeah, perhaps using an ink-style brush (instead of a chalk-style one) could help. If, on the other hand, the issue is that you don’t feel enough control of your stylus and sense that your strokes might be getting wobbly sometimes, perhaps you could try a line stabilizer. There are good plug-ins and third-party softwares such as Lazy Nezumi (for Windows) and HejStylus (for Mac), although it’s also pretty common for image softwares to come with built-in functions for line stabilization (Photoshop and Procreate, for example, sure offer it). But regardless of brush style and line stabilization, one of my favorite ways to deal with line weight digitally is to work with temporary layers. After I’m done with the sketch/design phase, I’ll often do various passes before getting to a definitive lineart - in the first pass, I usually don’t worry about line weight, I just clean up the whole drawing with thin lines; then afterwards, using new layers on top of the cleaned-up lines, I look for areas where I can work the line weights. Basically, it’s the same logic of this lesson’s assignment: solving line weight issues on top of a pre-cleaned-up drawing (instead of mixing clean-up and line weight together in one same step). It slows down the process a bit, but I think it's worth it - at least while building stronger confidence and skill. The “digital-only” advantage of using various temporary layers allows for plenty of room to experiment, adjust and polish. Hope this helps!

This project was very fun! I wanted to draw a Frazetta-ish inspired creature... In the end it looked a lot like a vampire (should have expected this result since it's based on a Vampire Bat). For the next projects, I will do more studies before getting to the design process and do more exploration on this part of the project has well. I think the lower part of the body isn't has interesting or believable has the top part. Any comments or critique? I would love to know!

That's awesome. Great development.

Impressive! you need no critics

Hi, I am new to the course and it's my first post on Proko! I was inspired and decided to draw along the demo... I got a bit carried away and did some highlights and arsh shadows. He gives me the vibe of a bad guy in a movie like Rio but with chameleons or reptile instead of birds. I am very very open to criticism, go hard, don't take any comments back, don't hesitate. I want to become better, a lot better! Thanks in advance

I love this grumpy little guy!! Nice sketches and exploration, keep it up! Excited to see your work moving forward! Looks like you're working digitally, which is great! What program are you using? Keep the line work for this one handy when you get to the How To Draw With Lineweight lesson assignments, I'd love to see how you apply those concepts to this character design!
