I'm excited by how much I learned just doing this first assignment twice! The second drawing was after watching the demo and critique videos. I feel like I improved the shape design, but still struggled with understanding and expressing the shapes of reflected light in the shadows. Pencil control and grouping values into light/shadow families improved a bit more on the second drawing as well. Any feedback is welcome.

Lovely drawings! You have an intuitive understanding of value and you made some great choices here. Your shapes are good and simple. The only thing I could really say here is that the shape of your light value next to the core shadow may be a bit too simplified. I feel that it takes away from the 3D effect that you achieve in other areas. Just a small thing though, overall I can tell you really understood the assignment. Nice work :)
