Did this figure sketch with reference from the academic bundle, it was quite fun! I need to be more consistent with practice again though.

He Melissa! I love the style you brought into this figure with the line work. Consistent practice, in my opinion, is the foundation for getting better at anything. It doesn't matter if you work only 30 minutes a day you will improve if you are consistent over time. I hope to inspire consistency in you with my website https://chrisbeaven.com. I started back in Jan of 2013 and I haven't missed a day since then, and I logged every single day to inspire other artists to do the same. I was able to do this with one important change in my life. No matter what, I can do at least 30 minutes of art every single day for the rest of my life. This has proven true even on the absolute worst days. All it takes was for me to lower my criteria for each day. Some days and week I did a ton more than that, but then there were months when it was nothing but 30 minute days. Just 30 minutes a day minimum and you can improve drastically I'm proof of that. I hope that helps. Your drawing is really good. Keep going!

This is my draw along attempt and I'm quite disheartened with how it turned out. 1) drawing non-conventionally attractive people is a lot harder and shouldn't be the first full portrait on the course, I've done them before and still struggled way too much obviously 2) take this drawing more seriously and don't just draw along to Stan's video if possible. I personally couldn't afford a set up that was more helpful but I realize my biggest issue is that I didn't break down the full photograph on a big screen on my own first and sloppily applied the concepts I knew of to Stan's process. Didn't work well. I also tried to push my contrasts but it's hard since I still can't fully wrap my mind around light and shadows (or more like apply it to the breaking down process). Need to brush up on light, anatomy and structure fundamentals more and I figure the Morgan portrait will be easier to figure out for newbs. Also need to stop stylizing everything subconsciously since I come from a manga and semi-realism background which sucks now that I know I never learned to understand the subjects I was just trying to copy. Lots of work ahead! Any feedback is welcome 🤗 Lmao I just stared at my drawing for too long and now I can't unsee Nicholas Cage's face stuck in some randos head is that what my mind was going for help

My draw along attempt. I stylized subconsciously cause that's what I'm used to doing. Otherwise I'm pretty happy, feedback is appreciated 😊

Hey there, before i start to even comment you should know im just a student, but your attempt is very good whene considering proportion, as you mensioned, you styelised it, and you are secssesfull in doing that, the only thing i would recomend, is for you to work on the lines abit, thou i understend the drawing is styielized, the lines themselfs feel a bit out of place, concider trying to improve on their qulity otherways, your drawing is well done in my eye(whiche are not professional by any means) So ya, sorry this is so long, just keep drawing, you are doing great😁

I struggled a bit with this pose at first, it's pretty messy but I'm rather pleased with the outcome now! Always grateful for feedback 😊

Looks Awesome! Love the addition of the swords. I think this pose came out pretty well, if I were to critique anything I'd say that the lines could feel a bit looser. Show a bit more how each section of the body locks into its corresponding parts.

It's a bit messy but I'm pretty pleased with the gesture and perspective. Feedback is highly appreciated!

My attempt, feedback is highly appreciated!

My draw-along attempt :) Tried hard to truly build up the structure from gesture to robobean to mannequin instead of looking at the contour. I think I should've exaggerated the gesture so that the position of her torso was more erect, she appears to be leaning forward a little in comparison to the reference. Feedback is highly appreciated!

My take! I tried to assign every part of anatomy Stan mentioned in the video correctly. Drawing along really made a difference in actually grasping the concept. I'll try some studies of my own now!

Thanks for this post! I compared my knowledge to this and the video as I was drawing along - and it was really helpful to clarify some of the areas.

I've drawn all my life but finally decided to start taking things seriously and getting a proper training on the fundamentals. Here are my latest gesture drawings from drawing along to Stan's 2 minute demonstrations, I attached them in the order I did them. Some of the proportions are off. And I'm aware that my line quality is too messy and that I'm using too many. Like many others, I've also got issues with keeping simplicity and not adding details and following contour instead of the gesture. I'm going to do more 30 seconds gestures for that now. Any feedback would be highly appreciated!

The gestures are looking strong; the flow and rhythm of the gesture are well though out. For the messy lines, my advice is to "air" draw the line you want to plan out. Once you find your line, put it down to the paper. Check out Mike Mattesi's FORCE Improving Line Quality and Rhythm - FORCE Series Part 1 on YouTube. Otherwise keep up the good work!
