added comment inDrawing Figures in Procreate with Lane Brown (LIVESTREAM)
Hi Lane, I read through Andrew Loomis' creative illustration recently and he had a very big focus on using models in professional work. I was wondering if professional entertainment studios still provide their artists with models for specific poses or if it is a lot more based of imagination now.
What do you use instead of a cintiq?

Be careful about the background values and the character/ foreground values. I think choosing a focal point and spicing it up in that area would be awesome. In the piece there isn't really a light source so it becomes very grey. That being said I LOVE IT. Epic design and painterly style. To avoid the muddy look be really clear about your value shapes. It happens in digital art when because of pen pressure values end up where they shouldnt be.

Wat do u think of ma drawing? I was goin for foto realism.
I think these look really nice! I would say with 15 to 20 minute poses and figure drawing in general when it comes to these timed drawing its really ok to make mistakes. Like you did already just understanding what was difficult is how you learn. Redrawing areas is normally not the best approach since the idea is to get fluidity but I understand the pull to do that. It is all about milage! Great work!

Not much of a critique other than the forearm is a little out of proportion. I really like what you did here in capturing the form!

Hi Jedidiah,
I think the pose feels off because of the left hip. The rest of the body isn't responding to that tilt. The legs knee should be either clearly bent or clearly stepping forward. Right now it rests somewhere in between. Also the curves are not consistent with perspective through out such as on the body verses the shirt sleeve. The rendering is great and I love what your doing here. Just a few minor adjustments.
You have really solid form and foundations in your drawings. I would consider being more confident with your shading. It seems like you know where the shapes are but only put it in loosely. Just upping the confidence and putting the shading in solidly would add a lot.
