This is just great. Not sure if this is a stylistic choise, but what ruins this for me is faces. You have a veeeeeeery realistic and nice rendering of body, especially on POIs of body, however, faces’ cartoonish style mismatches overall style and ruins impression. Cartoonish probably in a sense of lighting, not the style itself: the way faces and face features and hair lightened. Not sure if that makes sense, maybe this is just me. And this is a very solid and good work anyway, your progress is just tramendious!

Hi @Andrei Kladov, nice sketch! I like how you managed to sculpt the face with hatching! Apart from this drawing, I also looked through your albums to figure out what advice to give. The main things I would recommend working on are gesture, structure and values. Your drawings could be less stiff, and the construction more solid. With a stronger understanding of values, you'll have an easier time rendering a portrait like this one. If you think practicing those things sounds like a good idea, you might want to try these exercises: - Gesture quicksketches. I would check out this Drawing Demo by Glenn Vilppu and try to mimick his way of working. At 21:00 he explains the process of starting with a flow, then fleshing it out with major forms. - Geometric forms. Practice drawing spheres, cylinders and boxes. You could think of these like vocabulary for the structure language. If you're confident with the individual words, building sentences will be easier. When you draw features, like the eyes for example, try to build them with forms. - Value studies as explained here https://www.proko.com/s/PX9q Make sure to get feedback on your work. Feel free to tag me if you post for any of these exercises💪 Hope this helps :)

2022/11/17. Good morning everybody. Here’s my today’s warming up exercise. Thanks and have a good day.

You are incredibly consistent in your excersizes, Marco! Could you tell more about your time-organization please? In my case I have to “steal” some bits of time to draw from other stuff. Your approach is indeed the best way to grow, this is imply inevitable.

Keen to hear a good feedback! The first one: I know the right model’s proportions are all off: bottom bigger, hands too small and arms too thick. Haven’t been doing gesture/figure for quite a while. Tried a different shading approach here, more like hatching in form direction. Saw this in some videos from russian academics. The second one is a fan art of the character of animated series. I’m posting it here because I’ve used the same foundation: gesture - 3D forms - rendering here as well, despite it is very stylized. I’m struggling to find problems in this drawing, so please do not hesitate to point if you see any. Thanks everybody!
