My level 1 project submissions from after the demo. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I definitely struggled with the hand.

This was enlightening, finally makes sense why initial sketches look so messy. I think I still struggle a little bit with this though, the VR girl I was far too focused on the contours rather than conveying the idea. Still this was a fun exercise, any critique would be greatly appreciated.

These were my attempts at the projects. Oddly enough I think the boots were the hardest, I ended up redoing it. I think I have some ways to go on improving simplifying lines. Always appreciate critique.

My next two attempts. The rougher looking pears was my first (the left one) and second one (the right one). I think the brown spots on the second pear kind of threw me off. So I ended up redoing the whole thing with a neater attempt. I think I still struggle with lighter values.

Hey everyone. Here are my attempts at the project. The pears are from picture 2.
For the pears, I had trouble shading after blocking in the shape and defining the shaded values (I left the top one unfinished to show you what I mean). I don't like the unmarked spots in my hatching in the middle pear. I think perhaps I was just rusing or needed to sharpen my pencils. I absolutely love working with the softer leads; I used a 4b for my darkest parts, but I find that they become extremely dull only after a few strokes. For line work I think it's good, but for shading it becomes difficult. I need to get a razor to use as a sharpener like Proko boss man. Or I can be a little more patient
As for the portrait, I think it's obvious that many things are off. The porportions on the left side of the face, for one. But my main struggle was with shading. Again, as with the pears, I think I lost patience or motivation. When I first put in the darkest of the darks, it looked okay (I am most proud of the nose) but after that I got too cutsie pie, most notable in the cheek bone/ eye area on the left. I also didn't see, in the original photo, any sort of eye shape on the right side. Maybe just a subtle bit of light on the eye lid, but that's it. I just left it completly in shadow, but it doesn't look totally right doing that, which again could be my poor value shading.
I'm very open to all critiques. I had a lot of fun doing this project too. I'm glad to finally be enrolled in a Proko course. I've watched his videos for 10 or so years -- great guy. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

My attempt at the pear before I watch the Demo. Looking back I think I rushed my values a bit.
