Here's mine, first drew everything with thin lines then was going over them. Tried making lines, which are closer to the viewer bolder, and on also tried using them to show shadows and weight. Can't wait to watch critiques now.
@joel2311
I had quite a problem with the shoelaces can anyone give me any tips (Feedback for the snail is obviously also appreciated)
@94andreev11
Hi, I draw simple light lines instead of them first, then actually started laying the shoelaces in place of those lines.

It's interesting how I made the other three sketches in just one hour (all at once), while the boots took me one and a half hours I think (Was getting lost with details until realized how to make it faster). Any critique would be appreciated.

Still struggling with tones, but I think I did better this time :)

Really nice to look at. Pleasing on the eyes. You have nice soft control on pressure and consistent strokes. I wish I could do that.

1. How should I hold my pencil when hatching? 2. How sharp should my pencil be? 3. While hatching, I feel like my lines are blending together. Especially when the pencil is dull. Is this how it's supposed to be?

Here's my pear! Did one before watching the demo and one after. I feel like they both look about the same, but would be happy to hear any critiques! Thanks!

(1) The after one doesn't have enough contrast, in my opinion. (2) The cast shadow has very sharp edges. I would add some lighter edges around it.

Make the edges of the shadows a little sharper (like it was in the video). Work more on the shape of the dark shadow as in your reference it's not exactly a curved line like that. Also, to the right of the dark shadow, you can another lighter shadow because the transition in the reference photo is not that extreme. I also see you have a straight shadow in the middle. Remove that. As for other things, (1) you have to use straight lines only for now, I see a lot of curved lines, and (2) you've added too many details in my opinion. Our goal is to simplify for now, and train ourselves to see values (light, darker, half-shadow, shadow). So, just focus on simple things for now: just an apple and nothing else. Pay close attention to the way the shadows are (they not just straight lines in your case). Good luck!

Done pears before watching the demo. One in pencil, another one with a pen. Really struggling with using only 5 shades when using pencil, but don't seem to have this problem with a pen.
