I saw this challenge in my email newsletter on the 8th, but I've had such a busy month. Yesterday I finally got a gap, so thought I'm going to start on this challenge, thinking the end date was near the end of the month, like the prev ones. Came here to check the brief and I see entry period is over already. Such a pity.
Not requesting feedback, but wanted to share some process images from the "Demon Prince" Challenge. Lots of iterations on the basic character. Enjoyed ideating and seeing everyone else's work!
More process pictures of my entry for Monstober: A "young" demon prince playing with its "human slingshot" 😈
As you can see there are little human beings trying to escape from the demon while "surviving" in hell 🏃♀️🏃♂️🔥
This is a small sculpture so the human are really tiny (less than half inch).
I hope you like 😀
Work in progress on my little demon prince sculpture 😈.
Will try to "finish" it for tomorrow (or add as much detail as possible 😅)
I know it's not the best armature but as it's very light weight it makes the job.
So i just found out about this yesterday. I was initially thinking of an oil painitng but only today i learned that october 14th is just around the corner! (I was busy with college). So i was wondering if i just learned about this challenge all too late, or do you specifically design these challenges so we get limited time to work on our entries ?
I am asking this because first off, i am a college student and do art as a hobby, so it presents a simple logistical problem. But also, art doesn't happen automatically for me, or at least any meaningful work, that i can be proud of. I have to plan some subject out and take some time with an idea.
I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for your time!
I will still try to enterthe contest as the theme is interesting.
Hello, this deadline is way too soon for me. I was wondering, do (or can) the Proko challenges follow a set schedule? Like, always published on the 1st of the month and over a period of three weeks or so? That would help me a lot to be able to participate again. Then I can schedule them.
Hello everyone! :D
It says in the lessons note page that “The challenge will be judged as a whole, so winners will be chosen from all entries, regardless of the design prompt selected”. Could someone maybe explain this a bit more? Does this mean that there are different design prompts to choose from and not just ‘demon prince’?
Monstober sounds intresing! I don’t really know anything about it though, I tried to google it but mostly found links to the Disney channel and other things that didn’t appear to have anything to do with this kind of monstober. Does anyone else know anything more about it or have a link to it or something?
I think this will be fun and I’m looking forward to see what everyone creates! :D
You can go to Scoot Flanders's and/or Alec Brubaker's Instagram accounts to find about more about "Monstober". It has one different prompt for each week of October (second week prompt is "Demon Prince", and it goes from October 8th to October 14th, as this proko challenge length). So for sure that is the only prompt you should use for the contest (everyone will do their own interpretation of "Demon Prince").
At least that is what I understand.
I think that part where it says "The challenge will be judged as a whole, so winners will be chosen from all entries, regardless of the design prompt selected” could be a little confusing, but as there is only one prompt for the second week, I think "Demon Prince" is the only prompt/inspiration available, but you could do it whatever way you want as long as it refers to the prompt in some way...
Hope that helps!
And if someone can clarify better please let us know :)
