Im just wondering where this light on the road is coming from? I blew up this painting squinted my eye against this painting and put two fingers up to block that light in the right corner. Id get more values in the night sky. I know its a work in progress. Good start!
Create artworks, preferably oil-paintings (but any medium is allowed, particularly digital art is welcome), that depicts a scene at night.
Some ideas include natural landscapes with the night sky, sky with the moon or any other urban or suburban composition at a night time.
There's many different directions and themes one can go for, so definitely personalise your entry.
Some moods that can be invoked include, for example, serenity, wonder or perhaps mystery.
I will be creating some artworks inspired by this theme too, so I'll share them here, but of course they are there only for some reference and involvement.
Prizes? I wish there was a way I could award at least a prize for the winner, but as is, there's no prizes. So this is more of a curating competition.
Best of luck!
Shared picture is a digitally stretched image (for various reasons this was the best I could do for getting a picture) of a work-in-progress oil-painting titled "Scenery by the Roadside at Dusk".
i like the composition a lot - it is dynamic and energetic
My own work for this contest. I'm not really sure if it is up to the scratch but I decided to post it here anyway, because I did do something related to it. I didn't use any reference material so its all based on my visual library. I hope you have a good time viewing the work!
(I will certainly be doing more of this kind of work as it really is an exercise of its own kind, and almost ideal for working with composition of both values and colours. Also just very fun in general)
So for this contest, my brother wanted to try out the medium of painting, and I encouraged him to try gouache with watercolours. He is rather skilled with pencils and the like, but has not really painted much before. So this contest's entry is actually by my 11-year-old brother, Abdul-Ahad Zulfiqar:
He used reference photos but only loosely and "for inspiration" :)
I hope you have a good time viewing the work!
Hello,
Here are my thumbnails for January 2022 Proko Challenge. It was quite difficult for me because usually I paint large format abstract landscapes.
With this challenge, I was completely out of my comfort zone. I loved it.
Congratulations to all! Thank you!
