Jeff Watts is the founder of the Watts Atelier and my art instructor. I recently got to invite him into the Proko studio to film a special Draftsmen podcast where we discuss his own artistic journey, the elusive Reilly method, and more.

Man I loved the Draftsmen Podcast. It was great hearing from Stan and Marshall. I know it may not come back but if there's like an episode with an interview every once in a while it'll be great!
Would be cool to interview pros that have gone through your courses as well. Just a thought.

Being a beginner it's interesting to hear master artist Jeff Watts share his thoughts on his art. I read the Betty Edwards book on Colour and she explained that 9 pure pigments can be used to generate almost any colour. When Jeff explained about scooping up say seven colours and spreading them out would be impossible to recreate, that made me think. it's art. I think in her book for folk like me to understand colour, some rules or guide lines help, the rules are then there to be broken? I like the idea that Jeff's aim has always been to encourage artistic individuality and his art is amazing too. Everybody sees colour differently, everybody's eyes are as different as our faces are unique.
In the past, there weren't alot of resources as you explain, now, there are so many resources avaiable now, it's very easy to get overwhelmed !
I think I take from this, stick with one path, see it through and find your individuality.
But, which path do you start with from all the choices ?
As for AI, it's going to take over and paint in tones of human blood !
Thanks for making this podcast and thanks for the art.

Really good discussion around AI there, appreciate the insight and I like Jeff's attitude towards retaining individual style while mastering technique.
