Visit EarthsWorld’s photo gallery and select 10 different images and study each one carefully as seen in the demonstration. These could be a great starter for a world building project. Carefully take note of proportions, expressions, how the facial features relate to each other (such as how the cheekbones are placed compared to where the nose is, etc).

Cool! - Notice how the child has a larger forehead in the photo than in your drawing. Same with the bald man. Perhaps it could help to think of the head as a few shapes, and check that they have the relationship that you want them to have, before adding details. I hope this helps :)

Cool paintings! - When having a reference with a clear directional light, you might want to use it to your advantage by starting with a lay-in, that indicates the boarder of light and shadow. This can help you with the values; following the rule of thumb "the darkest light should be lighter than the lightest dark". Keeping light and shadow separated. Hope this helps :)

Yes I chose the most "WTF" looking faces. Easier to pay attention and attempt to capture their likeness.

Feedback is appreciated =) I really enjoyed this assignment. I learned a lot through each portrait and experimented with a lot of different methods. I could definitely see myself studying a face from EarthWorld's website for a character. Everybody is incredibly interesting in their own way and the expressions are awesome. I eyeballed all the proportions except for the bottom left lady on the last sheet. I find my worst mistake when doing this is flattening the back of the head by bringing it closer to the face. I'm a little surprised looking back at all of them now and seeing how drastic it is.
