There are three assignments for this lesson with varying degrees of difficulty. The first is geared towards beginners, the second for more intermediate, and the third is a bit more advanced. Of course, each of these exercises can be adapted for your personal needs.

The first exercise would be to draw gestures from reference. I would recommend using a resource like http://reference.sketchdaily.net/ for this exercise. As you draw, notice on the interplay between S curves and C curves, and really focus on capturing the overall gesture of your reference.

The second exercise is to draw forms in a 3D space. Start with a gesture line, and build a variety of forms around it. Draw forms overlapping with one another, and experiment with squashing, stretching, and twisting forms. You can also use this exercise to experiment with extreme perspectives!

The last exercise for this assignment is centered around posing a character without a reference. I recommend taking a character type and then giving them an action. In my example, I drew a kid reading, but the possible combinations are endless.  As you draw, I'd recommend trying out the poses yourself, without taking pictures. This helps grow your visual memory so that in the future, drawing poses like these will be even easier.

all 3 task of the first assignment. this was the first every time I've ever tried gesture drawing, I found it a little difficult but it was a great practice. I also found the second part 3D forms quite challenging but after doing the magic carpet they became a little bit easier. for the final task I decided to make a few illustrations of children jumping without using reference, this helped me think outside the box and was a lot of fun to do. for all these task I used photoshop along with a drawing tablet.
