Interesting and fun “trip” on this episode. I love how playful you are, and the laughter.
Glad you brought up the work of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (easier to say if you learn the sound without looking at the spelling) and flow again. The folks at the Flow Genome Project talk quite a bit about contemporary research in micro-dosing (of drugs), in addition to other pathways to flow, flow profiles, and how to maximize your flow potential. It would be interesting to hear in a future episode if you guys ever do any experimentation with micro-dosing and the impact if any on your creativity and artwork.
In the level 2 Flow class with FGP when I took it three years ago, we had to give up all addictions for a week – sugar, caffeine, tobacco for the smokers, alcohol, and social media notifications. I discovered in less than a day that with notifications off, my resting heart rate dropped 10 beats per minute! I’ve kept them off ever since (except if I install a new app and forget as happened last week). I now have much better choices about where I get my dopamine hits – kind of like what you were saying about exercise clearing your mind in the mornings, Stan.
